POETRY IN THE WILD – OTLEY POETS COME TO BRADFORD

  • The Triangle, 47 Bradford Road Shipley, England, BD18 3DS United Kingdom (map)

Join us for a Poetry Performance with Otley Poets.
Plus a walk and Poetry Workshop.

Otley Poets is coming to Bradford for the InterCultured Festival with a series of activities culminating in a poetry reading at the Triangle on the theme of Poetry in the Wild. Cities too have their wild spots.

We start on Sunday 19th October with a walk in Heaton Woods, one of Bradford’s green lungs, exploring the woods with Heaton local and Otley Poets member Kevin Holloway. We will be accompanied on the walk by nature photographer Simon Carey.

Photos taken by Simon and other members of the group will then be shared to provide stimulus material for a poetry workshop facilitated by Kevin and Nabeela Ahmed on the theme of poetry in the wild.

Participants will then have one week to work on their poems. This will be followed on Sunday 26th October by the reading, with two invited poets, Barsa Ray and Sarah Smout and an open mic for reading from poems written in the workshop.

Photographs from the walk in Heaton Woods will be back-projected during the reading in a slideshow to reflect the experiences of the afternoon walk and complement the reading.
